  • Paper-II Conventional Test: Tier II (Written)

SSC JE Syllabus of Tier-I Examination

The Paper-I exam of SSC JE consists of 200 marks in total. The paper I is divided into 3 categories -General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and the part 3 is further divided into 3 parts- General Engineering (Civil & Structural/Electrical/Mechanical). Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions only. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Paper –I will be called for Paper-II (Conventional Type). Below this table, we have discussed subject wise syllabus of SSC JE 2018.

Subject Total Marks Mode of Exam Time Allowed
General Intelligence & Reasoning 50 Computer Based 2 Hours
General Awareness 50

General Intelligence & Reasoning: The Syllabus for General Intelligence would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test include questions on similarities, differences, analogies, space visualization, analysis, judgement, problem-solving, discrimination, observation, decision making, visual memory, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc. The test will test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.

General Awareness: Questions will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Culture, Geography, History, General Polity, Economic Scene and Scientific Research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
